COMMITTEE MEMBERS
LYNSEY MELVILLE
President
My research focuses on sustainable control of roundworm infections in sheep and cattle. I’m particularly interested in the evolution of parasite behaviour and the factors which influence it, especially Nematodirus due to it’s quirky life history traits
EILIDH GEDDES
Vice-President
Postdoctoral Researcher
Moredun Research Institute

My research aims to understand the mechanisms of macrocyclic lactone resistance in the sheep scab mite to help farmers manage increasing resistance. Prior to this, my PhD research focused on developing practical solutions for extensive sheep farms to control of roundworms

I work on juvenile Fasciola hepatica, specifically, the functional interrogation of molecular pathways linked to growth/development and stem cell biology, with the aim of identifying and validating novel drug targets
PHOEBE BEAL
Early Career Representative
PhD Student

University of Edinburgh

I am a 3rd year PhD student based at the Moredun Research Institute and The University of Edinburgh. I am looking at how sheep vary in their ability to tolerate nematode infections, how this relates to gut microbiota and immune repose, and whether tolerance can be promoted through regenerative grazing
NICOLA BEESLEY
Secretary
Lecturer

I aim to investigate host-parasite interactions and answer questions about parasite biology and disease transmission. Specifically, I have a keen interest in understanding the role of intermediate hosts, with a particular emphasis on Galba truncatula. I have a background in molecular biology and ‘omics technologies, which I’m using to help my research.
JENNIFER MCINTYRE
Secretary
Postdoctoral Research Associate
University of Glasgow

I study drug resistance in veterinary parasites, trying to identify genetic mutations underpinning resistance. In particular I research macrocyclic lactone resistance in sheep and cattle nematodes , especially Teladorsagia circumcincta and Haemonchus contortus and the sheep scab mite, Psoroptes ovis
JADE DUNCAN
Communications Officer
Research Assistant

My research focuses on the sustainable control of roundworms in sheep and deer. Particularly, precision livestock farming and the impacts of early life experiences on future ewe productivity. I have a background in animal science and aquaculture
